We provide eye examinations to all age groups. A child’s first eye exam should be at 6 months old, followed by an exam at age 3, then annually thereafter. Eye examinations are covered under OHIP for children aged 19 and under and for seniors after they turn 65 years old. They may also be covered for patients aged 20-64 if recommended by their family doctor, or if they are diagnosed with certain medical or eye conditions.

We also stock a variety of accessories for our patients’ convenience, such as non-prescription readers, sports bands, eyewear chains, eyeglass cleaner, magnifying glasses, etc.

From the beginner who needs full training in contact lens insertion and removal techniques, to the experienced user who is already wearing contact lenses, but would like to try something new, we can accommodate you. We offer fittings in spherical, toric (for astigmatism) and multifocal contact lenses, in daily, biweekly or monthly modalities.

High resolution digital images of the retina, optic nerves, macula and blood vessels are included with each paid eye examination. The first images act as a baseline that allow us to detect changes at future appointments. This is especially important in diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Using light waves, similar to how ultrasound uses sound waves, this machine is able to provide three dimensional images of the retina and measure the thickness in micrometres. The sophisticated software analyzes the data and compares it to a normative database in order to screen patients for various retinal diseases. It can also perform a trend analysis to determine whether a disease, such as glaucoma, is progressing. This technology has revolutionized how we diagnose and treat disease. It has particular importance in glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

This is a newer technology that allows visualization of areas of the retina that are metabolically “sick”, allowing us to detect disease that may not yet be visible in traditional photography. It can also predict whether a condition, such as macular degeneration, is likely to progress. Currently, our office is one of only a few in this region to have this technology.

This machine tests your peripheral vision. It is most commonly used to detect the degree of loss and progression due to glaucoma, and for reports to the Ministry of Transportation. It can also detect loss due to stroke.
